| "The sight of 17 women swinging is a powerful thing, and that's exactly the point of the Montclair Women's Big Band according to Director and veteran trumpeter Ellen Seeling. Formed by Seeling and long time producer Barbara Price in 1998, the band features a cast of topflight soloists and a potent book of big band standards. The group was created to showcase some of the region's most prodigious female players, and the plan seems to be working. Last February the band performed at a sold-out event at UCLA for the GRAMMY Foundation.
