One of the West Coast's most exciting and dynamic new jazz ensembles, the Montclair Women's Big Band was formed in 1998 by award-winning trumpeter Ellen Seeling and veteran music producer Barbara Price. The group has headlined sold-out events for The Grammy Foundation, KCSM Radio, the San Jose Jazz Festival, The Human Rights Campaign, California State University and the Claremont Hotel and Resort.

Based at the Montclair Women's Cultural Arts Club in Oakland, California, the band prides itself in providing high visibility for its outstanding soloists, many of whom are also leaders, composers and recording artists. Showcasing their original compositions, air-tight ensemble, high-energy rhythm section and big brassy sound, this powerful collection of performers consistently demolishes stereotypes of women jazz players.

Under the direction of veteran bandleader Ellen Seeling, the women roar through 14 classic jazz and blues standards on their first self-titled CD. Produced by Seeling and Price, with Assistant Director/tenor saxophonist Jean Fineberg and legendary Skywalker Sound engineer Leslie Ann Jones, the recording also highlights vocalists Vicki Randle of the Tonight Show Band, Linda Tillery of the Cultural Heritage Choir, Bay Area singing star Pamela Rose and New York drumming sensation Allison Miller.

The Montclair Women's Big Band is an irresistible swing machine! The ensemble rivets audience attention from their first downbeat, and the commanding sound compels listeners to their feet and dancers to the floor. The groove is infectious, the visuals dramatic, the experience unforgettable. Prepare to be blown away by the Montclair Women's Big Band!
